Hiring a BIA BI is like a tutor who implements the programs designed by the behaviour consultant. I am happy to help parents find and interview potential Behaviour Interventionists (BIs), if they choose to have one on the team. BIs need to be 19+, and enjoy being with/working with kids. If they don't have experience working with children with autism, that's ok! I will provide training and supervision to ensure program implementation fidelity. The most important characteristics for a BI are that they: have rapport with your child and your family, are keen to learn, and are willing to take corrective/constructive feedback. Additional Funding OptionsIf your child needs additional supports such as Speech/Language, Occupational Therapy, and/or Physiotherapy, you may be eligible to cover some services through your extended medical plan. You may also be eligible to apply for additional funding for these services through the Variety Club. |
